Claire Bowman is a writer and editor originally from St. Joseph, Missouri. She is the author of Dear Creatures (Sutra Press, 2017) and her poetry has been published in Narrative Magazine, PANK, Black Warrior Review, A Dozen Nothing, I Scream Social Anthology and elsewhere. She was the recipient of a fellowship from the Michener Center for Writers, and served as Assistant Poetry Editor for Bat City Review.

Claire is the Senior Editor at  Host Publications where she champions the poetry of women writers. Through developmental editing, she works passionately to bring each poet’s vision to its fullest expression. She also hosts and produces a podcast called The Host Dispatch, where she interviews poets, writers and educators, and discusses all things literary arts. The Host Dispatch is another space where Claire hypes small press publishing and advocates for the literary works of underrepresented communities.

Claire moonlights as a tarot reader, teacher and membership coordinator with Typewriter Tarot. Through Tarot-related writing prompts, blog articles and course materials, she provides creative support for writers and creatives in that community as well.

Currently, Claire is working on a novel of historical fiction set in her hometown of St. Joseph, MO, titled Lake Contrary.
